Can I sign up without providing a Social Security Number?

If a customer wants to sign up without an SSN, they can fill out the SSN field with all 0's however, their account won't be activated until they place a security deposit or make a prepayment on the account.

IBN InterTelecom’s phone services are available throughout most of the continental United States.

How long does it take to switch my long distance company to IBNTel?

It normally takes between 3 to 5 business days to switch your long distance company to IBNTel.

How do I know when my long distance company has been switched to IBNTel?

When your phone services have been switched to IBNTel, you will hear an “IBN InterTelecom” jingle or message that plays after you finish dialing the number and just before your call starts ringing. If you don’t hear this message and your call completes then you are not using IBN’s long distance services for that call.

Are there any set up fees to open an account with IBNTel?

There are no setup fees to open an account with IBNTel. If you sign up for the direct dial (switched) service your local company may charge a small fee on your local phone bill for switching your long distance carrier.

Is there a minimum usage requirement?

There are no minimum usage requirements in order to use our services. We do have a billing fee of $1.95 per month if your usage is under $20 for a particular month.

Do I have to dial any special codes to get my low IBNTel rates?

If you switch your phone to IBNTel, you will not be required to dial any access codes. However, we do have a dial around service for those customers that prefer to keep their existing long distance carrier and wish to dial with an access code.

Which carrier is actually providing the service?

IBNTel uses multiple networks throughout the US to transport your call into our switches. Once the call gets to our switch and you hear the “IBN InterTelecom” greeting, we will then route your call again through a different carrier that will be used to transport your call to the party that you’re calling.

Why do you require that we provide the social security number?

If you sign up for any one of our post paid phone services, we will be extending you credit on your account. Your social security number will be used to determine your credit worthiness. Rest assured that your social security number is kept in the strictest of confidence and is protected by the latest security and encryption technology.

Can I open an account without providing my social security number?

You can open an account without providing the social security number if you make a pre-payment on your account or you make a security deposit payment.

Will I receive my bill on my local phone bill?

IBNTel’s bills are sent separately from the local phone company bill once a month.

If you have an internet account you can login to your account and pay your bill online.

Can I pay my bill with a credit card?

Once you login to your account one of the payment options available is to pay your bill with a credit card. IBNTel accepts VISA, MasterCard or American Express.

In what time increments does IBN bill domestic and international calls?

IBNTel bills both your domestic and international calls in 6 second increments. Some international destinations (like Mexico) may have a 30 second minimum charge per call.

I already have an account with IBN. How can I get internet access to my account?

If you already have an IBNTel account and you opened your account over the phone, you will need to contact our customer service department in order to get a username and password for your online account.

Is there any additional charge for an 800 or toll-free number?

IBNTel charges a $2 activation fee for every toll free number that you open with us. There are no monthly charges for having a toll free number.

Can you remove the “IBN InterTelecom” jingle from playing every time I dial?

We can remove the “IBN InterTelecom” jingle from playing every time you dial. You must specifically request that we remove the jingle in order for us to do so. Keep in mind that the only sure way for you to know that your call is going through IBN InterTelecom is if you hear this jingle every time you dial. If you remove the jingle from playing on your account and your phone is switched by a company without your permission, usually the only time that customers find out about this is after they receive the bill from this new company.

I am moving. What should I do?

If you are moving please contact our customer service department and let us know what your new telephone number will be so we can activate our services on your new number. We will also need to know what your new address will be so we can send you any bills from your old phone number to your new address.

Are there any surcharges when we use IBNTel phone cards or prepaid calling cards?

There are no connection fees or surcharges when you use the IBNtel phone cards or prepaid calling cards from most land lines. If you dial from a public phone, there will be a $.75 surcharge per call.

Are there any surcharges when we use your phone cards or prepaid calling cards?

There is a 75 cent surcharge for all calls placed from a Payphone.
